About this place
Once seated, the natural first order is the signature sashimi platter, which has maintained its affordable pricing since the shop first opened. At Izakaya Ikariya Honten (居酒屋 いかり屋 本店), the daily assortment centers on fresh fish and local net catches sourced primarily from Hiratsuka Fishing Port, brightening the table with tuna, cured mackerel (shime saba), and sliced octopus sashimi. To fully enjoy the depth of the seafood, pairing the meal with regional sake—such as Yoshinogawa or Kakurei from Niigata, or bottles from Ishikawa's Noguchi Naohiko Sake Institute served chilled or warm—creates a relaxed, satisfying rhythm.
Beyond the strong seafood selection, the kitchen offers an equally extensive spread of meat dishes and grilled skewers. A lineup of drink accompaniments spans skewers made with morning-prepared chicken—including upper thigh, chicken and leek (negima), and hatsumoto—alongside fragrant Sangenton pork belly skewers and horse sashimi shipped directly from Kyushu. Unassuming izakaya staples also deliver reliable comfort, including crisp seaweed-battered fried chikuwa (isobe-age), house-made rolled dashi omelets, and slow-simmered motsu stew.
The dining space provides both counter seating where solo guests can easily settle in and tables for groups, comfortably suited for casual weeknight dinners as well as lively parties. Guests can graze on small plates with a crisp highball or Hoppy in hand, rounding out the evening at their own pace with seafood salt yakisoba or comforting ochazuke.
